Overview of the 4th of July butterfly count with a slide show presentation

Alex Shore gave a Powerpoint presentation, which showed the result of the July 4th 2005 Butterfly Count in Broward County.
3/19/2005 Field Trip and Watter Matters Day at Tree Tops park

We explored the park from 9:00 a.m. for about 2 hours. Cleck here to see what we did and saw. We joined the Watter Matter's Day event afterward.

Broward County celebrated the third annual Broward Water Matters Day. This is a family friendly event focusing on water conserving landscaping techniques. This year the activities did include fun, games, and entertainment for kids, a plant, tree, and mulch giveaway, an opportunity to win prizes that enhance water conservation and water quality and lots of environmental information to take home.

Students from the environmental magnet program grade 6&8 spoke to us regarding their project with Atala butterflies and their habitats and the coordinated use of computers, math and science skills and coordination with the Army Corps of Engineers in a national contest. After the program we can share photos of butterflies or habitat for discussion.
