Wild75 Bioblitz – Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge (NWR)
October 11 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
The Broward County Butterfly Chapter will be co-leading a hike along select trails and boardwalks in Loxahatchee NWR to document butterflies as part of the Wild 75 Bioblitz. A bioblitz is an event where scientists, naturalists, and volunteers work together to find and identify as many species as possible in a specific area over a short perod, often, 24 hours. Each hike will last about two hours; multiple time slots will be available. There is no fee for participation. if you would like to participate in the butterfly aspect of the bioblitz with our Chapter, please contact Melissa Lackey, BCBC Bioblitz Co-Leader at BCBCmail@gmail.com and she’ll send you more details as they develop. Loxahatchee NWR is about one hour from Long Key Natural Area and Nature Center in Davie, where we have our regular butterfly chapter meetings. It may be possible to car pool to the bioblitz. No experience is necessary.
